Making the Move-In and Move-Out Cycle More Efficient

Posted on May 7, 2020

Most apartment communities will experience roughly 50% turnover each year. The constant cycle of residents moving-in and moving-out is something we all deal with in the multifamily industry.

Here is one tip for helping make the process a little more convenient and efficient for our residents.

A community in Rockville, MD recently started a program where residents drop off their old packaging materials from deliveries (think Amazon boxes, packing peanuts, moving boxes, etc.), the community stores the materials, and then provides them to residents in need of packaging materials (think boxes and padded bags for Amazon returns, moving boxes, holiday gift shipping, etc.).

The community even delivers the needed supplies to the resident’s door upon request!

Everyone wins – waste is reduced, and the residents get to enjoy the convenience of on-demand delivery for their packaging needs.
