We are pleased to announce that the winner of this year’s Utility Management Advisory (UMA) Sustainability and Innovation Award was Greystar!
The Sustainability and Innovation award celebrates excellence in energy, water and / or trash management, as well as projects demonstrating measurable enhancements in sustainability practices. The award was presented to Greystar for their “Move for Hunger” program during the Energy Summit held in February 2021.
Greystar began partnering with Move for Hunger in 2019. Move for Hunger is a non-profit organization that gathers nonperishable food items from residents during move outs and other times throughout the year. These items are picked up by one of their partners and delivered to a local food bank where the food is weighed and reported back to the site and Greystar. This program not only helps our ESG efforts by diverting waste from the landfill but also supports our local communities. As of Q3 2020, Greystar had collectively donated 13,579 pounds of food, which equated to 11,316 meals for those in need.
This program promotes balance within Greystar’s ESG program, focusing on the reduction of our environmental footprint, but also prioritizing engaging and giving back to our local communities. Move for Hunger has been an incredible partnership, helping Greystar to touch both the environmental and social side of our efforts.
Congratulations on the win, Greystar!
