Gas Pricing Update

Posted on April 8, 2017

Gas pricing has been up and down over the last year.  Gas hit near a historic low in March of 2016 $.16 per therm.  This is the lowest price since 1999.  It has increased to $.40 per therm as of December 2016.  Since the December high, pricing has come back down again to around $.25 per therm.  Expectations are that gas will stay low for now.  If we have a hot summer it could spike gas costs since many generation plants are fueled by natural gas.  So, is it time to lock in rates long term?  That’s a blog for another time.
