One Response to Q: I’m just getting started with energy management, where do I begin?

  1. Utility Management Advisory says:

A: Probably the highest return on investment will be a lighting retrofit. You can do it yourself, or there are a number of vendors that will do it for a fee. Some will even do it for free (or a heavily discounted fee) if there are rebates available in your area.

Start with your common areas: clubhouses, breezeways, wall packs, etc. Add timers, photosensors, and occupancy sensors where they make sense. Since CFL’s last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs and LED’s last up to 25 times longer, you will save labor costs on replacements, in addition to the energy savings.
